I’m a fool for you

I have been a pinning fool lately!! Pinterest is sooOoooOooo addicting. Sometimes I find myself pinning for hours, how does this happen!? It makes me want to buy a house and get married and have babies, and make lots of crafts!! Today, I decided to revamp my etsy, I made up a new banner and added two new items! They are crocheted items, and you’ll have to check out my shop to see them! 😉 Once go to my parents again I’m going to look my paintings and, hopefully, add some of those to my shop too.. parting with them may be difficult though, so we’ll see how that goes.

Also, back to the topic of pinterest, one of my fb friends posted this article the other day: A Lawyer Who Is Also A Photographer Just Deleted All Her Pinterest Boards Out Of Fear. Yikes. It really got me thinking about this whole legality issue of pinterest. The writer references that whole Napster Lawsuit from back in the day. It just makes me question why someone would start something, knowing that bajillions of people are going to use it, I mean, that’s the whole reason behind creating something isn’t it?! You create something with the intent of people using it, liking it, sharing it; pinterest was created as a social media for people to share things. OKay, so I must admit, part of the article on pinterest I skimmed through, but either way, it’s got me a little frightened, and questioning if I should delete all of my pin boards too… BUT I JUST LOVE PINNING SO MUCH! It’s a bit of a dilemma. I mean, how many really read those terms of use or conditions or whatever it’s even called? Is that bad, are we really supposed to read those things?

I wanna be a cowboy, baby

It’s rainy and grey out, and not a day to let job searching bring you down. Days like today, I wish that it would just thunderstorm instead of the drizzle that happens every once in a while.

This morning I helped my mom in my parents’ garden. I remember when I was sixteen and they’d ask me to help, I’d roll my eyes and say something like, “I didn’t want the garden, so why should I have to pull the weeds?”, such logic I had. It’s really not that bad I realize now. Sometimes, even on dreary days, it’s nice to just be outside. Not only that but gardening is actually a pretty good workout. And, I got some good photos to use for some upcoming etsy items! On the downside, my nails were filled with dirt and I got a blister. I guess that’s what happens when you do manual labor.

Last night, I got to watch some good ol’ Americana fun at the Rodeo. Who doesn’t like cowboys, fried dough, mud flying, and American pride everywhere? We used to always go when my sister and I were little, but I hadn’t been in the last few years. I wish I had some pictures to post, but the fence obstructed my view or any hope for decent pictures. It was a good time though, and not only do you get to watch barrel racing, mutton bustin, and bull riding, but the people watching is always equally as fun.

Today, I’m going to apply for some jobs probably (ugh), but I’ve also been working on some cards for my etsy, I hope to get them on there by the end of the day, so make sure to take a look!

Welcome to the jungle

Venturing off topic today, I’m going to talk about my weekend. I got to attend my sister’s company picnic. She is three years older than me, and works at pretty large law firm. The firm rented out the entire zoo for its’ employees and their families.

This leopard really liked showing off, but we just wanted to hear his growl

It was complete with a buffet and all the booze you could want, plus the animals, of course, and tour guides. You could even ride the carousel or train. We skipped on the carousel ride, because those things actually move kind of fast and go up and down – I think I might have been sick if I’d tried riding that.

He kept posing like this until I put my camera down, I think he liked getting his picture taken.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun to get to wander around a zoo, of course I haven’t been to a zoo since elementary school field trips. I feel kind of bad for the animals because it doesn’t seem like they have a lot of room to meander around in, but they’re so beautiful. The zoo just adopted a baby giraffe too, and even though he wasn’t even a year old yet, he was pretty big. Due to some construction on their outside area, they were stuck behind glass, so I couldn’t get any good pictures of them. It’s amazing how huge they are!

Lionesses catching some rays, I guess the lions were hiding out somewhere else

You can walk right through the kangaroo area, which was pretty cool, but I was also a little frightened because they hop right across the path in front of you. But it was still pretty cool to get to be up close so many animals. It’s definitely a different experience than going when you’re five and don’t remember anything.

I didn’t add any of my zoo pictures to my etsy account, but I did add a few new items the other day, so make sure to keep checking it out! 🙂

I can make it on my own

As part of my hobbying and unemployment, wait I mean, funemployment, research yesterday I came across a few articles (can’t find them now of course) about turning your hobbies into money makers. Woohoo! That got me thinking (well really my mom suggested it), that I should start an etsy account. Helloo if no one will give me a job maybe I can just make my own. Plus it’s a great way to get your work out there and to be discovered by other people, and a motivator to keep up with your hobbies!

Today I’ve been busy creating my own etsy, Sara Jane Design. So far I’ve just added a few of my photographs from yesterday, but I plan on adding more photos and paintings as I continue to work on them. I hope you all check it out and are enjoying your funemployment today!
